Description

The Polymaker PolyFlex™ TPU-95A in Blue is a premium flexible filament in the practical 1.75 mm format, specifically engineered for desktop 3D printers. With a Shore hardness of 95A, this thermoplastic polyurethane offers the perfect balance between flexibility and dimensional stability. Its impressive elongation capability allows stretching to over three times its original length without breaking. The vibrant blue colour is ideal for visible functional parts. Thanks to its optimised formulation, PolyFlex™ prints reliably on most FDM printers. Perfect for applications requiring shock absorption, vibration damping, or flexibility – from protective cases to seals and flexible hinges. The material also excels with high abrasion resistance and good chemical resistance.

Applications

  • Protective cases for smartphones and electronic devices
  • Gaskets and O-rings for technical applications
  • Shock absorbers and vibration dampeners
  • Flexible hinges and joints
  • Tyres and wheels for RC vehicles or robots
  • Ergonomic grips and handles
  • Damping elements for mechanical engineering

Recommendations

For optimal results, we recommend a direct drive extruder as Bowden systems can be problematic with flexible filaments. Print slowly at 20–40 mm/s and reduce retraction distance to approximately 3 mm. A print surface like BuildTak® or glass with PVA glue ensures excellent adhesion. Post-processing is rarely needed – the surface is already pleasant to touch. Note: TPU is not compatible with multi-material systems like AMS or CFS due to its flexibility.

FAQ

It's possible, but not optimal. Bowden systems have a long filament path, which can cause issues with flexible materials. A direct drive extruder delivers significantly better results.
Polymaker recommends 20–40 mm/s. Slower printing prevents jams and ensures clean layers. Too high a speed can compress the flexible material in the extruder.
TPU has low water absorption of about 0.82% and is suitable for many wet applications. For fully waterproof parts, optimise print settings to achieve a closed surface.
No, flexible filaments like TPU are not compatible with multi-material systems. The flexibility prevents reliable filament changes in automated systems.
The material can stretch to over 330% of its original length before breaking. This high elasticity makes it ideal for applications with repeated stress.
