Description

PolyLite™ ASA from Polymaker in Army Green is the ultimate choice for outdoor applications. This premium 1.75 mm filament excels with outstanding UV resistance and weatherability. While conventional ABS fades and becomes brittle within months, ASA maintains its colour and mechanical properties for years. The matte, professional surface finish gives your prints a high-quality appearance. With a glass transition temperature of 97.8 °C and heat deflection resistance above 100 °C, this material is perfect for thermally demanding components. The high impact strength remains intact even at low temperatures, making it ideal for year-round outdoor use. Compatibility with PolyDissolve™ S2 enables complex geometries with water-soluble support structures, opening up new design possibilities for your projects.

Applications

  • Garden tools and outdoor accessories
  • Automotive parts like spoilers and covers
  • Weather station and sensor housings
  • Drone components and RC vehicle parts
  • Solar panel mounting brackets
  • Façade elements and building technology
  • Camping and outdoor equipment

Recommendations

For optimal results, print in a well-ventilated environment or enclosed chamber. Use BuildTak® or Magigoo as bed adhesive. Disable the part cooling fan for best layer adhesion. The surface can be smoothed with acetone if desired. Dry the filament at 70–80 °C for 4–6 hours before printing. PolyLite™ ASA is compatible with multi-material systems including Bambu AMS, Creality CFS, Anycubic ACE, and Prusa MMU.

FAQ

ASA offers significantly better UV resistance and weatherability compared to ABS. While ABS parts quickly fade and become brittle outdoors, ASA maintains its colour and mechanical properties for years. Both materials can be post-processed with acetone.
An enclosed chamber is recommended but not mandatory. It prevents warping from drafts and improves layer adhesion. Good ventilation is important as ASA releases fumes during printing.
No, ASA is not suitable for food contact applications. This material is designed for technical and outdoor use. For food contact, we recommend specific certified filaments.
ASA is designed for a lifespan of 10+ years outdoors. The UV stabilisers prevent colour fading, and mechanical properties remain stable despite changing weather conditions.
Polymaker recommends PolyDissolve™ S2 as a water-soluble support material. It dissolves easily in water and enables complex geometries with overhangs and internal cavities without manual post-processing.
