Description

Polymaker PolyLite™ ASA in Grey is the ultimate choice for demanding outdoor projects. This premium filament in 1.75 mm format excels through outstanding UV resistance and weatherproofing – even after years of outdoor exposure, it won't fade or deteriorate. With a glass transition temperature of 97.8 °C and heat deflection above 100 °C, the material is perfect for thermally stressed components. The matte, high-quality surface in subtle grey gives your prints a professional appearance. Thanks to high impact strength of 10.5 kJ/m², your parts remain durable even in cold conditions. Garden equipment, drone housings or automotive parts – PolyLite™ ASA delivers reliable results for permanent outdoor use. Post-processing with acetone enables smooth, watertight surfaces.

Applications

  • Outdoor enclosures for weather stations and sensors
  • Automotive parts such as mirror covers and spoilers
  • Garden tools and balcony furniture replacement parts
  • Drone and RC vehicle components
  • Solar panel brackets and mounting systems
  • Façade elements and building services

Recommendations

For optimal results, we recommend printing in an enclosed chamber up to 90 °C. Use BuildTak® or Magigoo for best adhesion and disable the cooling fan during printing. Dry the filament at 70–80 °C for 4–6 hours before use. For complex geometries, use PolyDissolve™ S2 as water-soluble support material. The surface can be smoothed with acetone. This filament is compatible with multi-material systems including Bambu AMS, Creality CFS, Anycubic ACE and Prusa MMU.

FAQ

ASA offers significantly better UV resistance and weatherproofing compared to ABS. While ABS quickly yellows and becomes brittle outdoors, ASA retains its colour and mechanical properties for many years. Both materials can be post-processed with acetone.
An enclosed chamber is recommended to prevent warping and achieve consistent print results. The optimal chamber temperature ranges from room temperature to 90 °C. Adequate ventilation should also be ensured.
No, ASA is not approved for food contact. For food-safe applications, we recommend special PLA or PETG filaments with appropriate certification.
Polymaker recommends PolyDissolve™ S2 as a water-soluble support material for complex geometries. It dissolves in water and leaves a clean surface without manual post-processing.
ASA is designed for a lifespan of over 10 years outdoors. Thanks to excellent UV stability, the material won't fade and maintains its mechanical strength despite sun exposure, rain and temperature fluctuations.
